Wallet safety
Valley Explorers is designed so a wallet is optional and the one transaction it ever asks for is easy to understand. These rules keep you safe here and everywhere else on Solana.
Never share your seed phrase
Your seed phrase (also called a secret recovery phrase) is the 12 or 24 words your wallet showed you when you set it up. Anyone who has it controls everything in your wallet. The same goes for your private key.
The game will never ask for your seed phrase
There is no screen in Valley Explorers, and no page on these docs, that asks for your seed phrase or private key. Nobody from the project will ask for it, in a message, a form, a "support" chat or a "wallet verification" page. Anyone who asks is trying to steal from you.
Only ever type your seed phrase into your own wallet app, when restoring your own wallet.
Use the real sites
The game is at playpve.xyz and these docs are at docs.playpve.xyz. Check the address bar before you connect a wallet. Look-alike addresses are a common trick.
What connecting shares
Connecting your wallet gives the game your public address, the same thing you'd share to receive tokens. With it, the game can read your $PVE and SOL balances. Connecting cannot move anything out of your wallet. Moving anything always needs a separate approval in your wallet.
The only thing you'll be asked to sign
The game only ever asks your wallet to sign one kind of transaction: a $PVE Market purchase, after you choose an item yourself (the Grove permit is one of them). It burns the item's price from your own wallet and adds a short memo receipt such as pve:v1:permit:1. See $PVE Market and Grove permit, step by step.
The game never asks you to:
- send $PVE or SOL to anyone,
- approve or delegate spending of your tokens,
- sign a message to "verify" or "claim" anything,
- or sign anything you didn't start yourself.
If your wallet ever shows a request like that while you're playing, reject it.
The transaction preview
Before your wallet opens, the game shows a Review transaction screen. Here's what each line means and what to look for:
| Field | What it tells you | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Action | What the transaction does | "Burn 100 $PVE for Grove Expedition Permit" (or the item and quantity you picked) |
| Effect | The consequence | The tokens are destroyed permanently and can't be returned |
| From | The token account the $PVE leaves | It's your own token account (the link opens it on Explorer) |
| Token | Which token is burned | The $PVE mint, matching the one on these docs |
| Programs | The on-chain programs it uses | SPL Token (BurnChecked) · SPL Memo |
| Receipt | The memo saved with the transaction | pve:v1:<item>:<quantity>, e.g. pve:v1:permit:1 |
| Network | Which Solana network | Solana Mainnet |
| Network fee | The SOL fee you'll pay | A tiny amount, about 0.000006 SOL |
| Simulation | A dry run of the transaction | ✓ Passed. If it failed, the reason is shown and you can't sign. |
| You get | What the game gives you | The item's effect, e.g. "Opens the Moonlit Grove, home of Clefairy and Mew." |
Nothing is signed until you press Sign in wallet here, and then approve again in your wallet. Your wallet's own screen should agree: a decrease of exactly the price in $PVE and a small SOL fee, nothing else.
Good habits
- Use a wallet for play. Keep a separate wallet with only what you need for games, and keep savings elsewhere.
- Read every approval. If anything in your wallet's pop-up surprises you, reject it. You can always try again.
- Burns are final. A burn can't be reversed by anyone, including the game.
- Check the receipt. After a permit, open the receipt link and confirm it on Solana Explorer. See Verify a burn.
If you think your seed phrase has been exposed, create a new wallet in your wallet app right away and move your assets to it from a device you trust.
