Appearance
Trainers
Two trainers in the valley will battle you, each once per in-game day. Their Pokémon scale with your strongest Pokémon, so they stay a fair fight as you grow.
Tomo
![]()
A kid trainer who hangs around the pond in Mosslight Hamlet. Talk to Tomo and choose Battle Tomo.
| Pokémon | Level |
|---|---|
| Rattata | Your highest level − 1 (at least 3) |
| Pidgey | Your highest level (at least 4) |
Prize: ₽300 each time you win.
Tomo also gossips about the valley, and knows when rain is coming. See Weather.
Ranger Ash
![]()
The ranger who guards the Moonlit Grove gate at the top of Fernwake Woods. Talk to Ash and choose Challenge Ranger Ash. You don't need a permit to battle.
| Pokémon | Level |
|---|---|
| Hoothoot | Your highest level (at least 8) |
| Vulpix | Your highest level + 1 (at least 9) |
| Pikachu | Your highest level + 2 (at least 10) |
Prize: ₽1,200 each time you win. The first time you beat Ash, you also get 3 Great Balls.
Planning for Ash
Ash's team uses Normal, Flying, Fire and Electric moves. A Rock and Ground type like Geodude resists all of them, and Pikachu's Electric moves can't touch it at all. Water moves are strong against Vulpix, and Electric or Rock moves against Hoothoot.
Trainer rules
- Once a day each. After you battle a trainer, win or lose, they'll say "let's go again tomorrow". A new day starts at midnight on the in-game clock. Resting through the night is the quick way there.
- "Your highest level" means the highest-level Pokémon anywhere in your party, not just your lead.
- No running, no catching. You can't flee a trainer battle, and a trainer blocks any ball you throw.
- More experience. Trainer Pokémon give ×1.5 experience compared with wild ones. See Experience.
- You need a healthy team. If all your Pokémon have fainted, the trainer asks you to rest first.
- Losing costs nothing except that day's battle. You're sent home with a fully healed party. See If you lose.
